Google has announced a new feature that will show 100 of the day's hot topics based on queries to the Google search engine. It will be filtered so that pornography, weather, popular sites like MySpace and popular celebrities are excluded.
Part of the fun, according to Google software engineer Amit Patel, will be working out what is sparking the rush on any particular search query. To be able to work this out, hot topics users will be provided with relevant links to news stories.
